I created "What Would Happen if the Moon Disappeared?" using Fair Use guidelines and defended my use of copyrighted materials in my "Defense for Fair Use" paper. The process of creating this video and defending it allowed me to gain a strong understanding of what my rights are as an educator when using and remixing copyrighted materials. Having this knowledge of copyright and fair use allows me to advocate and model ethical use of digital information and technology and allows me to share this knowledge with them so that they can make responsible decisions with online resources.

This is a six week mini course I created using Moodle. The social studies course covers different Native American regions and their culture. Throughout the course students are engaged in an interactive learning environment that uses videos, online discussions, group presentations, and assignments that are customized for each student through various options to show learning.

This rubric for group discussions was designed for a mini course in which students would engage in online forums with a group of four to five peers each week. In order for students to be productive as well as supportive to their group members I created this rubric. The rubric outlines the expectations for student behavior when interacting in the online forum. Having student interact in an online forum with peers in order to facilitate learning allows students to practice responsible social interactions when communicating online.

Ancient Civilization Group Work Assignment Page

In this assignment, students collaborate with peers using a Moodle forum in order to investigate how an ancient civilization interpreted the Moon and its changing appearance throughout the course of a month. Students work with their peers using the digital age communication tools Moodle forums and wikis, as well as Google docs and Google presentations in order to plan and execute a cohesive report on their ancient civilization. Students share their research with others by posting their research in the Moodle wiki. Lastly, students communicate with their group to identify similarities and differences among the ancient civilizations presented in the wiki.
